After that, we had to produce a Bill of Quantity using the software called Buildsoft - Global Estimating. Finally we had to also prepare a complete tender document to be submitted along with the measurements done and the BQ.
- An ECA Workshop was done during a week, that is 5 days. During this workshop we were assigned specific buildings for which we had to measure the Gross Floor Area and Net Floor Area. the 3 forms were also needed to be filled accordingly.
Reflections:
We
have been studying Measurement since semester 1. Each
semester we get to study on how to measure specific part
of a building in full details. This module has helped me to explain and able to interpret clauses in the Standard Method of Measurement (SMM) for the various trades in relation to bored piles, timber piles, steel piles, renovation and demolition works, and various external works. I have also been able to adopt a systematic approach to take-off quantities from drawings for the preparation of Bills of Quantities for various external works. Furthermore, I was able to evaluate the relationship between Specifications, Drawings and Bill of Quantities in Tender Documents for bored piles, timber piles, steel piles, renovation and demolition works, and various external works
